Awesome! There's no other words to describe the weekend at round 8 & 9 of the 2011 AMA Pro Road Racing series.

American SuperBike:
Martin Cardenas takes his first win on the big bike on Saturday, ahead of Jordan Suzuki's Ben Bostrom and Rockstar Makita Suzuki Blake Young, making it an all Dainese podium.

 

 

 

On Sunday, Blake Young wins SBK race 2, Martin takes 3rd, followed by Steve Rapp in 4th, B-Boz in 5th.

Very difficult weekend for David Gaviria and Tomas Puerta who both suffered crashes in both races.

James Rispoli Breaks Femur

Road Racer X magazine is reporting that AGV Dainese's James Rispoli broke his femur during motocross training over the weekend.

Road racer, dirt tracker and landspeed record holder James Rispoli had another busy weekend. The young gun release his new web site www.jamesrispoli.com on Friday, tested a big non-Harley twin for an Ohio based team on Saturday, practiced some motorcross on Sunday at a local NY track and took his first helicopter ride after a stalled landing pitched him over the bars and he broke his femur. He was flown to the Erie County Trauma Center where they performed a successful surgery on the clean break inserting a rod into the bone attached by screws. He is resting comfortably and will return home on Tuesday where he will be able to start rehab with an expected full recovery. James wanted to thank all the folks at the practice track that made quick decisions on his behalf that allowed for this successful outcome.

Dainese's Blake Young to World Superbike

Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Blake Young will make his World Superbike debut at Donington Park this weekend, Cycle News has learned from multiple sources.
Young will replace Fonsi Nieto on the Alstare Suzuki Brux machine at the track in the British Midlands that plays host to the ninth round of the World Superbike Championship. Nieto was riding in place of the injured German Max Neukirchner. The Alstare Suzuki Brux entry is currently listed as TBC (to be confirmed), according to a World Superbike spokesman who would neither deny nor confirm Young's entry.
The deal to put Young on the Suzuki was sealed at Misano Adriatico this past weekend, where Young attended the race along with his mentor Kevin Schwantz. Alstare Suzuki Brux team owner Francis Batta was looking for a young rider to replace Nieto. When Batta asked Schwantz if he knew a young rider to try out, Schwantz introduced him to Young.
The final approval had to be made by American Suzuki, which today agreed to allow Young to race. Young may be racing with his familiar number 79, though that has yet to be confirmed. An official announcement from Suzuki on Young's entry is expected on Tuesday.
By lining up on the World Superbike grid, the 21-year-old Wisconsinite will increase the American contingent to four. He'll join former teammate Ben Spies (Yam), Stiggy Racing Honda's John Hopkins, and Jamie Hacking, the Monster Energy Attack Kawasaki rider who's racing the factory Kawasaki in place of the injured Makoto Tamada for the second week in a row. The race also extends Young's first ever trip to Europe by a week.

Young's first ever trip to Europe is ending better than it began.  It started with the airline losing his luggage when he and Schwantz landed in Barcelona about ten days ago for  the Catalunya Grand Prix north of Barcelona. From there the pair visited the Dainese factory in Italy before going traveling on to Misano. In Misano, Schwantz made a guest appearance in the television commentary booth for race one, World Superbike's first ever flag-to-flag race. The race was won in a runaway by Spies.
Very few riders have more insight than Schwantz into Donington Park, a circuit that flows well, but can have a tricky surface, especially in the wet. The 1993 World Champion's successes and failures at the track are legendary, starting with his Match Race battles with Wayne Rainey through an illustrious GP career that ended with four wins, including three in a row starting in 1989. Schwantz was such a fan favorite that he had a corner named after him. Schwantz Curve is a fast left that feeds into the much slower McLeans right.
But Schwantz won't be able to offer advice in person, at least not for the first day of practice. He'll be at Barber Motorsports Park for a two-day Schwantz School on June 25-26. Whether he plans to return to the UK for Saturday and Sunday isn't known.

From Donington Park Young heads to Monterey, California for the seventh round of the AMA Pro Road Race Championship in support of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Young currently sits eighth in the American Superbike point standings.

Ransomville, NY-- NPS Racings James Rispoli making his AMA Pro SuperSport debut did the seemingly impossible. With only his crew chief and helper the team faced several challenges all weekend long and still managed to take a fourth place finish overall. With rule specifications that appeared different from the beginning of the season, the team had to scramble to make changes to forks and refit the bike with a stock / legal ECU. The changes throughout the weekend were not easy and the team worked hard with lots of support to get the job done. There were many firsts on this trip. It was the first time the team and rider participated in AMA Pro SuperSport competition, the first time the bike was set up on Dunlop tires and the first time James rode on Dunlop tires as well. Michael Jordan showed up at last weekend’s fifth round of the AMA Superbike series at Infineon Raceway to support his team, as is usual for the motorcycle fan.

Jordan, after watching qualifications on Friday, jumped on a bike (a Ducati Multistrada) and went for a ride in the beautiful countryside of Sonoma protected with an AGV Stealth helmet.

The helmet on Jordan’s bean was one of the many helmets from the National Guard Jordan Suzuki Racing Experience: the 2-Up program sponsored by Dainese and AGV.

The 2-Up program, during which all riders participating are protected head-to-toe with Dainese leathers, gloves, boots and AGV helmets, provides an exclusive on-track experience for members of the media and other selected guests at each round of the AMA National Guard Pro Racing Superbike Series.

AMA Superbike raced against weather at Barber

The weather could have not been worse at Barber, in Birmingham, Al, this Sunday. numerous tornado alerts along with heavy downpours disturbed the racing program. The day's three races were delayed by two hours and each race was shortened five laps from its scheduled distance as a band of severe thunderstorms passed through the area bringing tornado warnings in the early afternoon.

Seventh win in a row for Mladin in the AMA Pro American Superbike race where AGV Dainese riders had up and downs.
Unfortunately Blake Young, who was very fast in the morning warm-up, tangled with Yamaha's Josh Hayes and crashed, resulting in a left-hand fingers injury that needed a quick surgery (wishing Blake a prompt recovery). After the full-course caution and subsequent restart Jordan Suzuki's Aaron Yates took his #23 GSXR-1000 and Dainese leathers to a very well deserved 2nd place finish, 2.741 seconds behind Mat Mladin.

Aaron Yates said “It’s great to be on the podium again, it’s been a while. This weekend has been up and down for us. We only got the 2009 Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 a few weeks ago and we’re still getting it sorted out. But I’m feeling pretty good about the bike, and it’s running pretty good. It just feels great to get back up on the podium and show how hard the Jordan Suzuki guys are working.”

On a mostly dry track, National Guard Jordan Suzuki's Geoff May scored another very good Top 5 finish reinforcing his 3rd overall in the point standings.

Aaron raced in front of his hometown crowd this past weekend at Road Atlanta and finished 6th on Saturday and 5th on Sunday in the Superbike class. He is currently in 8th place overall in the series. Yates is the 2008 Superstock Champion and a five time AMA National Champion. He has won titles in the 1000 cc Superstock, 600 cc Supersport, 750 cc Supersport and SuperTeams classes. The Georgia native has also earned 43 AMA National victories, four wins in AMA SuperTwins (Harley-Davidson 883) class and four wins in AMA Super-Teams Endurance competition.

AGV Dainese USA introduced their 2009 AMA Sponsored Racers. For 2009, Dainese and AGV USA, have a line up of Top riders that reinforce the strong commitment that the Italian apparel and helmet companies made to the motorcycle racing scene in the US.

Max Biaggi, the Dainese flag-bearer in the modified standard-series bike racing world, proved capable of getting the absolute most out of his Aprilia RSV4 and snagged two third-place finishes that raised his place in the standings and now make him one of the season’s contenders for the title.
Now Aprilia is smiling, and its new bike is starting to tear up the track.

AMA Road Racing 2-up Event at Fontana, CA

At all AMA Road Racing rounds in 2009, Team National Guard Jordan Suzuki runs the Two-up Ride Experience giving a pretty fast racing experience to local personalities, media and more lucky ones. Former National and World Champ Jason Pridmore rides the two-up National Guard Jordan Suzuki GSXR-1000 for this thrilling on-track experience.

Here's a quick Fontana report by AGV Dainese USA Mark McPerry:

"Since this was the second race of the season and in our back yard, things went pretty smoothly as we had, Kat, Andrea and myself, all at the races, not to mention that Andrea had most of our riders stop by the Costa Mesa Dainese D-Store on Thursday in order to make sure they had everything they needed. The event was a mixture of great exposure for Dainese and AGV along with some good finishes for some of our riders and some bad luck for others especially for Yates. Add to that the bad weather on Sunday which canceled the second 2-up ride, but cleared enough so that the racing was able to go on. On Friday morning we hosted Fox Morning's reporter, Rick Lozano, and reality TV shows hosts Torri Spelling and Speed Freaks. I think we got more TV exposure this weekend from these three TV shows than we have had in quite a while in the US.
It was a Dainese /AGV love fest!

AMA Pro Road Racing - Round 2 in Fontana, Ca.

Another "ups and downs" weekend for AGV Dainese USA riders in AMA Pro Road Racing. The weather and some bad luck bared some from better results when others like #54 Geoff May and Garrett Willis had a very positive race weekend.

Michael Jordan Motorsports Geoff May scores his first podium of the season in the AMA Superbike, finishing 3-4 over the weekend while Garrett Willis clinched the 2nd podium sport in the AMA Supersport, on his Mach 1 Motorsports Yamaha.

As previously mentioned, AGV rider and title contender Neil Hodgson missed the Fontana double-header due to practice injuries sustained during the week and was replace by returning Corona Extreme rider Jake Holden.

Dainese riders on front row at Fontana

Jordan Suzuki #23 Aaron Yates picked up 2nd in the AMA Superbike Superpole yesterday while his Dainese and Michael Jordan Motorsports team mate National Guard Jordan Suzuki #54 Geoff May grabbed 4th.
The 2 Dainese riders will be on front row for the AMA Pro Racing Aerican Superbike Championship at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA.
